Welcome to the dedicated Starlink Speed Test. Operated by SpaceX, Starlink is a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation delivering high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across remote and rural locations globally. Unlike traditional geostationary satellite internet (such as HughesNet or Viasat) which suffers from 600ms+ latency, Starlink orbits roughly 550km above Earth, providing responsive gaming, 4K streaming, and fast video calls. Use our test to measure your Starlink download speed, upload bandwidth, latency, and dish obstruction jitter.
Typical Starlink Residential download speeds range between 75 Mbps and 220 Mbps, with uploads between 10 Mbps and 25 Mbps. Performance can vary depending on satellite density, local ground gateway capacity, and peak hour usage in your cell. Users on Starlink Priority plans often see consistent speeds exceeding 200 Mbps. Because satellite handoffs occur every few minutes as satellites cross the sky, connection jitter and micro-drops can occasionally occur.
Starlink typically delivers round-trip latency between 25ms and 50ms, making it viable for online gaming (Valorant, Fortnite, Rocket League) and Zoom calls. If your ping spikes above 100ms or your jitter test indicates packet instability, check the Starlink mobile app for field-of-view obstructions (trees, roof overhangs, buildings) or severe weather interference like heavy rain fade.
To maximize Starlink performance, ensure your dish has a 100% unobstructed view of the sky. If you are using the standard Gen 2 or Gen 3 Wi-Fi router, consider enabling Bypass Mode and using an Ethernet adapter with a third-party Wi-Fi 6 mesh network for superior whole-home coverage.
Simply click the 'Start Test' button on this page. The tool will automatically measure your ping, download speed, and upload speed for your Starlink connection.
Compare your test results with the plan you purchased from Starlink. If your results are consistently much lower than your advertised plan, try restarting your router, connecting via Ethernet, or contacting Starlink customer support.
